You and Your Relationships

There are no relationships without you, which mean you are the determining factor of how your relationships go. Success in relationships doesn’t come from without it comes from within. If you don’t have peace within yourself, don’t expect to have peaceful relationships.

Happiness, peace, joy, don’t come from your relationships, it is something you bring into them. If you are a hurting, wounded, broken person, you first need to be healed within before you can relate properly with people. You need to deal with stuff from within, for your relationships to be healthy.

Many relationships aren’t good because of one main issue, a self issue. Many women have yet to divorce from self, whether it is selfishness, self-centeredness, or self-delusion. Any form of self that manifests in your relationships makes it hard to work.

The bible makes clear that before you can be married to someone, you must have been divorced from another.

Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

This same principle works in relationships. If you want to be married to your husband you need to divorce yourself first. That speaks of letting go of selfishness, self centeredness, and the pointing of fingers. In order for your relationships to work it can’t always be about me, myself, and mine, you won’t be able to be right about every issue and expect to have healthy, long lasting relationships. No man is an island; one tree cannot make a forest. You need people and you need to know how to relate to them.

Taking responsibilities for your actions is how relationships work. You build your relationships with the tools you bring into it. Your transformation comes from within. Christ came for you to enjoy life. When you embrace the love of God, it will make you a lovely person. Christ is the one that will make you gracious and help you in your relationships. Getting rid of self doesn’t make you a weak person, it makes you a wise person, setting you on a path to enjoy and prosper in all the relationships God puts in your hands.
